Old Mauch Chunk Model Train Display
This display resides on the second floor of the Hooven Mercantile Company Building, 41 Susquehanna Street, Jim Thorpe (next to the Railroad Station at Packer Park). Open year-round since 1985, this highly detailed H.O.-scale model train display measures 47 feet by 22 feet and features thirteen separate mainlines totaling 1,087 feet of track, with some engines pulling as many as 50 railroad cars! Over 200 structures and more than 100 bridges and trestles, actual moving automobiles, a burning building, an old-fashioned football stadium and more add to the realistic display. This popular Jim Thorpe attraction is good fun for all ages. Summer hours are Sunday through Friday from noon to 5:00pm, and Saturdays 10:00 to 5:00. Also open by appointment.
